Congratulations to KAREN GARDNER for successfully defending her dissertation
in July 2005 and
graduating with a Doctoral Degree in Education on January
5th 2006.
She will be walking UVA the lawn May 21st!

WELCOME NEW BOARD MEMBERS GEOF AND BEVERLY BAKER!  
We are so pleased to announce that Geof and
Beverly have agreed to join our board and we
look forward to having them with us at more of
the games throughout the year. Geof's tie to the
Gordons is through his Todd lineage, and for
those of you at last year's Richmond games, he
was our fantastic pumpkin chunker!

CONGRATULATIONS TO DANIEL TODD ON HIS PROMOTION TO PRIVATE
FIRST CLASS AND TO STEPHEN TODD ON HIS PROMOTION TO LANCE
CORPORAL in the USMC ON 1 MARCH 2006!

Congratulations to BRANDON WRAY, son of Barbara Gordon Wray, on being
accepted to the University of Colorado to study meteorology.

The Clover Hill Marching Cavaliers, under the direction of Assistant Band
Director RICHARD WRAY, was invited to Ireland, 11-18 March to march in
the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin.
Brandon plays saxophone in the band
and Barbara made it a family affair by acting as a chaperon for the band!

Brandon Wray, son of DSCR employee Barbara G. Wray, is the first
recipient of the Virginia Aviation Foundation, Paul E. Galanti Student
Scholarship Award.  
It was presented to him
Saturday night, April 29, 2006, at the "Festival
of Wings" event held at the Virginia Air National
Guard honoring military aviators.  He was
selected from a group of High School Seniors
enrolled in a Virginia school district having at
least a 2.8 GPA and having applied to at least
three accredited schools or academics with
Aviation related programs.  Ross Perot read the
introduction and recommendation about Brandon
prior to Paul Galanti calling him up to receive his
award.  Paul E. Galanti was honored by showcasing
a newly painted replica of his A-4 in which he was
shot down in Vietnam in 1966 and held captive until
1973.  The A-4 is a recent addition to the Virginia Aviation Museum.

Congratulations to SUSAN GORDON who finished all of her PhD work and
will be receiving her Doctor of Philosophy on May 13th from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University.  
Her qualitative research work was
in the field of 'Education Curriculum and Instruction' concerning the need for
undergraduate English classes in both the general core curriculum and the
business major curriculum.

Thomas Reid Gordon graduated from Radford University this May with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Theater and Drama and a minor degree in
Television and Film.
Thomas will be working at the Merced Playhouse in Merced
California as a Production intern starting in August.  He will be there for one year
and will get a lot of exposure in his acting career.  He will be acting in two plays
and directing two plays as well as performing technical assignments in lights,
sound and stage design.  Thomas is the son of Morris and Sara Gordon.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PFC DANIEL TODD FOR GRADUATING FROM DINFOS (Defence
Information School) AT FT. MEADE ON JUNE 2, 2006. DANIEL IS CURRENTLY AT MCB SD
BUTLER in OKINAWA FOR A 2 YEAR TOUR OF DUTY WITH THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT
AS A COMBAT CORRESPONDENT.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PIPER, AARON TODD for his 2nd place in the
March/Strathspey/ Reel Competition (MSR) at Southern Maryland in Grade 2
piping. Congratulations also for his 1st place MSR at the Colonial Highland
Gathering in Fair Hill MD, bringing home the Janet H. Campbell Mem\orial Trophy
and a piping scholarship.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HEATHER GARDNER on  her 1st place with an AGL in
Strathspey/Reel in Grade 3 piping at Loch Norman Games in NC

Congratulations to Kristen Gordon, granddaughter of Dr. Jim & Abbye
Gordon, on placing 2nd in Virginia High School Doubles Tennis and 4th in
Virginia High School Singles Tennis for the 2005-2006 School Year.

Congratulations to Aaron Todd
for his 2nd place in MSR Grade 2 Solo
Competition at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.

Congratulations to Barbara Wray on being named Secretary of the newly
formed House of Gordon USA
(now a separate organization from the Scotland
organization.)
Congratulations also to Lois Todd named to the national
communications committee.

CONGRATULATIONS BRANDON WRAY ON MAKING EAGLE SCOUT!
Brandon's Eagle Scout Project was an information board at Pocahontas          
State Park. With the help of his father, Richard  Wray,  uncle, Morris Gordon, and
others the installation  was completed.








CONGRATULATIONS TO Pfc DANIEL R TODD ON HAVING HIS
FIRST NEWS ARTICLE AND PHOTOS FOR THE MARINE  CORPS
PUBLISHED ON AUGUST 4, 2006! DANIEL COVERED THE 31ST
MEU BLT MORTAR LIVE FIRE TRAINING.  

CONGRATULATIONS TO AARON TODD ON HIS  1ST PLACE
IN 2/4 MARCH AND 1ST PLACE IN STRATHPEY/REEL IN GRADE
2 SOLO PIPING COMPETITION AT THE NORTH AMERICAN
CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE GLENGARRY HIGHLAND GAMES IN
MAXVILLE, CANADA.
