Congratulations to BRANDON WRAY, son of Barbara Gordon Wray, on being accepted to the University of Colorado to study meteorology.
The Clover Hill Marching Cavaliers, under the direction of Assistant Band Director RICHARD WRAY, was invited to Ireland, 11-18 March to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin. Brandon plays saxophone in the band and Barbara made it a family affair by acting as a chaperon for the band!
Brandon Wray, son of DSCR employee Barbara G. Wray, is the first recipient of the Virginia Aviation Foundation, Paul E. Galanti Student Scholarship Award. It was presented to him Saturday night, April 29, 2006, at the "Festival of Wings" event held at the Virginia Air National Guard honoring military aviators. He was selected from a group of High School Seniors enrolled in a Virginia school district having at least a 2.8 GPA and having applied to at least three accredited schools or academics with Aviation related programs. Ross Perot read the introduction and recommendation about Brandon prior to Paul Galanti calling him up to receive his award. Paul E. Galanti was honored by showcasing a newly painted replica of his A-4 in which he was shot down in Vietnam in 1966 and held captive until 1973. The A-4 is a recent addition to the Virginia Aviation Museum.
Congratulations to SUSAN GORDON who finished all of her PhD work and will be receiving her Doctor of Philosophy on May 13th from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Her qualitative research work was in the field of 'Education Curriculum and Instruction' concerning the need for undergraduate English classes in both the general core curriculum and the business major curriculum.
Thomas Reid Gordon graduated from Radford University this May with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Theater and Drama and a minor degree in Television and Film. Thomas will be working at the Merced Playhouse in Merced California as a Production intern starting in August. He will be there for one year and will get a lot of exposure in his acting career. He will be acting in two plays and directing two plays as well as performing technical assignments in lights, sound and stage design. Thomas is the son of Morris and Sara Gordon.
